PAW (Peer Advocates for Wellness)

What is PAW ?

A program through Student Health Services that trains students to become peer health educators.  PAW  provide information, peer support, outreach, presentations & resources to students about health and wellness issues.

What we do...

• Give presentations to CSUH classes & organizations
• Organize and participate in campus health observances and activities
• Counsel students during weekly office hours at the Health Center

Some of the health & wellness issues that PAW can address include:

General Health

• Stress Management
• Nutrition Assessments
• Personal Safety
• Massage Techniques

Sexual Health

• HIV Testing & Counseling
• Condom dispensing
• Birth Control Counseling
• Sexually Transmitted Infections Education

Mental Health

• Healthy Relationships
• Domestic Violence & Date Rape
• Referrals & Resources

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use

• Education & Prevention
• Referrals & Resources

How do I become a PAW?

All students interested in participating in the P.A.W. program need to enroll in Health Sciences 2510- Introduction to Peer Health Education (Only offered in the Spring Quarter).
