About the Excel Program
The EXCEL program offers eligible students in-depth, long term academic support throughout their undergraduate education. Assistance is available in a wide variety of areas including Academic Advising, Personal Counseling, Scholarship Information, Career Development, Graduate School Advising, Learning Skills, and Tutoring in Basic Skills. A program of friendly, highly trained counselors, staff, tutors, and student assistants is available to help you. As a federally funded TRIO program, participation is restricted to students with the greatest need, defined as undergraduates who are low income, first generation or disabled college students. Before students are assisted, they must first meet with the EXCEL Office Manager in order to determine their eligibility and complete an EXCEL application. Joining EXCEL is like being part of an extended family that promotes the academic success and personal development of its members.For over 30 years EXCEL has had a proud tradition of helping undergraduates accomplish their academic and personal goals. If you are an eligible first time freshmen, transfer student, or continuing student, we hope you consider including EXCEL in your educational plans.
EXCEL Program Eligibility Criteria - YOU MUST BE:
- First Generation College Student (neither parent has a 4 - year U.S. Baccalaureate
degree)
- Low-Income Student (meeting
federal low-income guidelines)
- Disabled Student
(must be a registered with SDRC)
