Employer Standards of Ethical Conduct
and Recruitment Practices

Career Development Center (CDC)
California State University, East Bay

To recruit students for employment or inform them of entrepreneurial opportunities, employers/individuals must abide by employer standards of ethical conduct established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). In addition to abiding to NACE standards, employers/individuals must conform to the following Career Development Center standards:

  1. Employers/individuals will offer employment/entrepreneurial opportunities that pay a base salary equal to or greater than a minimum wage in compliance with city/county/state/federal labor laws and ordinances. This base salary must take the form of a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly wage, comprised of a set hourly, weekly, or monthly rate.

  2. Compensation will not be commission-only, nor require prospective employees to purchase products/services contingent upon their employment with, or on behalf of that company/individual.

  3. Employment/entrepreneurial opportunities will not be based on a "pyramid" or "multi-level" type networking structure requiring or encouraging the recruitment of others who recruit others, etc. to sell products or services.

The CSUEB Career Development Center reserves the right to change, modify, or add criteria to the above endorsement standards as needed. Questions should be directed to the Director of the Career Development Center at (510) 885-3621.

Endorsement allows employers/individuals to recruit students for employment or inform them of entrepreneurial opportunities. Recruitment may include the following methods:
  • Job Fairs
  • On-Campus Interview program
  • Workshops, seminars, and related company presentations in the CDC
  • Career Advertising Service
  • Hot Jobs bulletin
  • Career E-Minder Service
Employers/individuals not endorsed by the CDC may make their own arrangements to advertise employment/entrepreneurial opportunities. Advertisements may include the following methods:
  • Posting flyers on-campus, with the approval of Student Development Services, (510) 885-3763
  • Tabling outside the University Union, through arrangement with Student Development Services, (510) 885-3763
