| CaPS counselors have earned Master’s or Doctoral degrees in counseling or clinical psychology. Pre-licensed staff, many of whom have years of experience in providing counseling, are supervised by licensed professionals. A full-time licensed Ph.D. psychologist is the Director of CaPS Counselors: Alison Bateman, Ph.D. Alison earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, and a B.A. in Psychology from Smith College in Massachusetts. She is a licensed psychologist with experience working with diverse populations in a variety of settings, including three other university counseling centers. While she enjoys working with students struggling with a wide range of issues, her areas of special interest include lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students; eating disorders and body image problems; depression; anxiety; stress management; and multicultural, family, and relationship issues. She also provides clinical supervision for CaPS pre-licensed staff. Grace A. Chen, Ph.D. Grace Chen earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Grace has worked with diverse student populations at several university counseling centers. She works with students on a wide range of issues and has particular interest in helping students deal with stress, career decisions, adjustment to college, identity development, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, and multicultural issues. Additionally, she has a special interest in working with international students and students of Color, especially Asian Americans. She enjoys leading groups in addition to providing individual counseling. Ting Cheung, M.A Ting Cheung earned an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University. She holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked with children, adolescents and families from a diverse cultural background in school and community mental health clinics. Ting enjoys working with students on wide range of issues. Her professional interests include relationships, cross-cultural issues, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, school issues, stress management, and parenting issues. Ting is bilingual and can offer counseling services in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). Ryan Guetersloh, M.A., MFT Ryan Guetersloh received his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda. He also received a B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University. Ryan has worked with children, families, couples, teens and individual adults with issues including family and peer relationships, depression, anxiety, suicide, sexual abuse, grief and loss, and anger management. He enjoys working with clients who are dealing with a wide range of issues. Ryan also provides counseling services at the CONCORD CAMPUS. Veronica Macapagal, M.S. Veronica Macapagal received her M.S. in Counseling from California State University East Bay. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from University of California at Berkeley and attended Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland Oregon. Her professional interests are interracial relationships, women's issues, depression, anxiety, divorce and life transitions, diversity counseling and acculturation. Veronica has had experience counseling couples, individuals, children, and the diverse population of a community college. She is bilingual and can counsel in the dialect of northern Manila, Kapangpangan.
Alan T. Maeda, M.A., MFT Alan Maeda earned his M.A. in Professional Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda and his B.A. in Psychology from University of Hawaii at the Manoa Campus. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has worked with a diverse population in community mental health and private outpatient clinics around issues related to relationships, stress, transitions, substance abuse, and grief. He has facilitated various co-ed groups and truly believes in the usefulness of a group context for growth through support. Brian Reinhardt, Ph.D. Brian Reinhardt received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University . He holds a Master's degree in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . His professional interests include multi-cultural counseling, interpersonal group counseling, couples counseling, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender issues, grief/loss concerns, outreach and consultation, and clinical supervision and training. He has worked at counseling centers at three universities and enjoys working with students dealing with a wide range of issues. Kelly M. Sharp, M.S. Kelly Sharp received her M.S. in Counseling from San Francisco State University . She received her B.A. in Psychology from Cal State East Bay , where she was also an intercollegiate athlete. Her professional interests include multicultural counseling, GLBT issues, working with athletes; career and life transitions, couple and relationship counseling, and working with issues unique to students who are balancing work, family and academics. She has a wide range of experience working with individuals, groups, and couples from diverse populations. Hillary Friedberg, M.A. Hillary received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. She received a B.A. in English Literature at UC Irvine where she also performed with the Dance Department. She has worked with a diverse population including children, adolescents and adults both individually and in groups. Her experience includes work at several agencies and school based settings. She enjoys working with a wide range of issues. Her areas of special interest include: identity development, addiction and recovery, women’s issues, relationships, parenting challenges and group work. Cynthia Mansur, M.A. Cynthia Mansur earned an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Education from The College of the Kibbutzim in Israel. She is trained in a holistic approach, which integrates non-traditional and established psychological practices. Cynthia has experience working with clients on a broad range of issues. Her professional interests include relationships, depression, stress management, career decisions, self-esteem, verbal and emotional abuse, and problem eating. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. |
