Orientation Rules
Orientation Day Parking
One of the new changes on campus is a beautiful new residence hall at Pioneer Heights. Therefore, parking around Pioneer Heights has been restricted to current residents only. We encourage Freshman to be dropped off for Orientation. Students may be dropped off as early as 9:00 am on the first day of Orientation at Pioneer Heights. If you must drive yourself, parking is $2.50 a day in any general parking lot on campus. We suggest parking lots E2 and F. (campus map)
Staying Overnight
For overnight programs, all participants will spend the night with their fellow Freshman and Orientation Leaders in Pioneer Heights, Cal State East Bay’s on-campus housing. The Orientation Team has events planned throughout the evening so come rested as your first evening on campus will be filled with fun and excitement.
Bringing Guests
Sorry! Orientation is only for admitted first-time Freshman at Cal State East Bay. We pride ourselves in having a safe and secure campus and therefore, no guests are allowed during Orientation. If your family wants to partake in Orientation, they can register for the Family Orientation Program, which is held on the first day of the Freshman program.
Alcohol/Drugs
Cal State East Bay prohibits the possession, use, or trafficking of drugs or alcohol on campus; this includes your stay at Pioneer Heights. The University Police Department will handle all violations of this rule. Consequences could include, but are not limited to: having your parents called to pick you up, de-enrolled from the University, or arrested. Come to Orientation with a positive outlook and ready to have fun and we’ll show you how to have a good time without breaking the rules.
What to Bring
Orientation is not a two week trip to Hawaii. It is, however, 2 fun filled active days on the Cal State East Bay Campus. Therefore we suggest you bring the following:
- Comfortable clothes & shoes (lots of walking)
- Sleeping bag, pillow, and toiletries (overnight program)
- Hat, sunglasses, sun screen (will be outside)
- Jacket for evening program (the Bay Area can be chilly)
- Pajamas (overnight program)
- Pen & note pad
- A photo ID (e.g. CA Drivers License, in order to get your CSUEB ID)
- All correspondence you have received from any CSUEB Office (e.g. Admissions, Financial Aid, Testing, etc.)
- You will need a copy of the 2007-2009 catalog. You may purchase the catalog at the Pioneer Bookstore.
